Pop-up advertising itself is an excellent, cheap and also extremely successful advertising instrument1. It allows the vendor to link the customers’ interest to their site, as well as the buyers to get the dynamic updates on the goods they want to purchase. When the person will get a pop-up notification that the TV set he desires to buy is offered at the online store he/she checked out earlier with a 15% discount, one will definitely use this chance and get it. Taking into consideration the exceptionally low price for the popups and their targeting, such a marketing tool is a much-loved thing among the advertising departments of huge internet sellers.

Nonetheless, such a rewarding plan could not be missed by virus developers. Option to demonstrate the popup advertisements forcibly to the targets of malware invasion is an excellent basis for evil-minded adjustments with the popup promotions. And Setonna.com promotions is just one of hundreds that are “employed” in this system.

How have I got the Setonna virus?

There are a number of ways of getting infected by the adware that create the Setonna popups tornado. A lion’s part of this malware cases is after the freeware or cracked programs, that are spread on the peering networks. Freeware may also be downloaded from the official site, and the adware is supplied as a legal bundled program.

There is no need to blame yourself. A huge amount of individuals oftentimes utilize the uncertain programs from untrusted providers: abandonware, various tools that are free of cost, and even hacked programs. All of these types of programs are unsafe, since it is very easy to include a Setonna malware under the guise of part of the license hacking script, or as a part of the self-made algoritm inside of the Windows optimization tool.

Setonna popup virus may additionally be concealed in the advertisement somewhere on the odd site. Such websites are in most cases full of intense and blinking advertisements, and their proprietors generally approve any promotions to be posted on their web page. Therefore, clicking on such banners is a risky thing: only the advertisement contractor realizes what will happen when you click this advertisement. Besides some “light” viruses, like adware or undesirable programs, you can likewise get something far more damaging, like ransomware or coin miner; the big share of coin miners circulation is exactly after the malicious ads.

People dislike popups

The statistic shows that people dislike popup advertising more than other types of promotions

Potentially unwanted programs, like Setonna popup virus may cause a wide range of different troubles on your computer. Distracting is not the only problem – pop-ups may present you the promotions, where you are offered to download one more dubious program, or “a perfect anti-malware tool”. Scareware is usually distributed with the last slogun. Potentially undesirable applications, in turn, may have spyware functionality. And it is very hard to distinguish the undesirable app from a good one, if you don’t know the exact names. Besides the PUPs and fake antiviruses, popup-related promotions are also used as a spreading way by various trojan viruses, for example – coin miners. The consequences of actions of such malware is 100% unpleasant, and can cost you hundreds or even thousands of dollars. And even if you are not tapping these ads, they can be clicked by someone who also uses your computer – parents, children, spouse, etc. So the situation can become much more serious, and it will be much harder to deal with it without data and money loss. It is recommended to remove the viruses with antivirus programs as soon as possible.
