“Happy new year” – Scam New Year Greetings On Social Media

The New Year greetings would redirect the user to a website asking for their data, and will then send a similar message to the victim’s contacts.

HowToFix Team is to warn you against the malicious holiday greetings disguised as a genuine message that’s circulating on social media. The message actually looks genuine and would show users seemingly genuine greetings, but actually leads them to different unsecured websites.

A lot of Pinoys received malicious and fraudulent Christmas and New Year greetings from friends and family through social messenger apps, particularly WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.

“Pinoys warned” is a browser hijacker that is set to modify the settings of a given web internet browser and also introduce a hostile online marketing task on the screen. It might change the preferred homepage or the main internet search engine without authorization from the customer.
