Notrobot.top push notifications appear out of the blue, disturbing and annoying you. Still, they are slightly more than simple pop-up ads – their nature is surely malicious, and they may introduce other malicious stuff to your device. In this post, I will show you how to remove Notrobot.top pop-ups and explain how to avoid them in the future.
Any interaction with Notrobot.top pop-up notifications will be ineffective at best. In worst case scenario, the web pages it can throw you to can introduce malware to your system. These pop-up notifications may also advertise fake online shopping sites which will take your money and payment info. The latter generally ends up with losing all the money you have on the exposed card.
What are Notrobot.top push notifications?
As the pop-up definition goes, these are short and small advertisements that attract your attention to a product they promote. But the difference between regular pop-up advertisements and Notrobot.top notifications is the malignant origins of the latter. Normal pop-up notifications are offered for you to enable on different sites with a legitimate purpose – notify you about the fresh publications, discounts and so on. It is an effective approach to help your website to keep visitor’s attention and help the interested ones to have the best price.

Notrobot.top pop-up notifications, in contrast, have a deal with untrustworthy websites. You will commonly observe the proposition to enable them after a redirection from another site. Redirects are OK unless they throw you into such a dubious place. In this case, turning on pop-ups is offered as the anti-DDoS filtering. Alternatively, the websites may refuse to show you the contents unless you apply these pop-up notifications. These requirements should already raise suspicion, as websites commonly have a less obscure anti-bot mechanism. Witnessing such an demand is a reason to close the website doubtlessly. In some cases, even after clicking “Allow”, you will not get to the site – the only page it has is a landing page with the offer to turn on the push notifications.
How does it work?
The vast majority of browsers support enabling push notifications from sites. Sites, on the other hand, may send out notifications with the content they want. It may be an advertisement of the page listed on this particular website, as well as an ad of their partner page. As a result, you can see the pop-up from site X, but clicking it will redirect you to site Y – because a referral link to that website was added.
Scoundrels bear on this feature in their approach to gain money using illegal advertising. They trick users into turning on pop-ups, and after that just spread numerous promotions of anyone they contract with. As you may suppose, no normal companies will have a business with fraudsters. All the Notrobot.top popups you can see lead to other untrustworthy sites. At some point, the same victim may get into a trap of multiple pop-up spamming sites, and its web browser will turn into a complete mess.
The banners these criminals show are paid under the pay-per-view model. It generally provides a negligible pay for one viewer, but when you can send ads to hundreds of users and make it hundreds of times each day – that is a way bigger sum. Even though the majority of these ads giving no result at all, it can still give all the parties a lot of profit.
Are Notrobot.top pop-up ads dangerous?
Yes, they are. Initially, they may look non-threatening – just a blinking window that appears from time to time. However, the contents of this window differ sharply from what you generally see in push notifications. Notrobot.top web page is controlled by crooks, who deliberately throw hundreds and thousands of irrelevant ads in pop-ups. They also never follow any manners of advertising and can launch sporadic push notifications into a storm of ads. For weak computers, that may be enough to make the system slower. But troubles are not over at this point.
As any other thing that touches illegal ads, Notrobot.top push notifications don’t have legit offers. Even though hackers make the ads looking similar to ones from Amazon, Walmart or Ebay, the website these ads will throw you to are completely different. And these pages may offer you to turn on other pop-ups, install a “useful” program, or pay for a thing at a big discount and never receive it. Let’s leave aside the cases when pop-up advertisements promote phishing pages or straightforward malware. There’s no way these pages will bring you any good, thus interacting with them is a very bad idea. For the same reason, Notrobot.top pop-up ads are not recommended to click on either, and the best solution is to disable them as soon as possible.
How to remove Notrobot.top pop-ups?
Fortunately, Notrobot.top pop-up notifications removal is pretty easy. They reside in the browser and can’t hide themselves in the system. However, as I pointed out above, some pop-up advertisements can introduce malicious software to your computer. It is nearly impossible to show all of the cases, and manual malware removal is a bad idea. For that reason, after getting rid of the pop-up ads the best option is to use anti-malware software. When the browsers are reset, you need to ensure that your browser will connect the right DNS while connecting to the website you need. Create a text file titled “hosts” on your pc’s desktop, then open it and fill it with the following lines2:
# Copyright (c) 1993-2006 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
# localhost name resolution is handle within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost
Find the hosts.txt file in C:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc directory. Rename this file to “hosts.old.txt” (to distinguish it from the new one), and then move the file you created on the desktop to this folder. Remove the hosts.old from this folder. Now you have your hosts file as good as new.
