What are Usounoul pop-ups?

Usounoul popups are a result of adware action. Adware is a kind of malware that suggests you the pay-per-view of pay-per-click ads, which creates a significant amount of profit for adware suppliers. These ads may consist of explicit content, or have a link to malicious content/website, because adware maintainers have no purpose to examine the goodness of the web content they are going to reveal – their solitary target is cash.

Pop-up advertising itself is a good, affordable and extremely effective marketing method1. It allows the seller to link the customers’ interest to their website, and the buyers to get the dynamic updates on the goods they wish to buy. When the consumer will get a pop-up notification that the TV set he likes to purchase is provided at the online shop he/she visited previously with a 15% price cut, one will undoubtedly use this possibility and buy it. Considering the exceptionally low cost for the popups and their targeting, such a promotion and marketing instrument is a much-loved thing among the advertising teams of huge internet retail stores.

Nevertheless, such a rewarding plan could not be missed by malware creators. Ability to show the popup ads by force to the targets of malware invasion is an excellent basis for malicious adjustments with the popup ads. And Usounoul.com advertisements is just one of hundreds that are “employed” in this system.

How have I got the Usounoul virus?

There are a number of ways of becoming contaminated by the adware that cause the Usounoul popups tornado. A lion’s part of this computer virus cases is after the free software or cracked programs, that are distributed on the peering networks. Freeware can also be downloaded from the main site, and the adware is provided as a legal bundled program.

There is no need to blame yourself. A huge amount of people oftentimes use the dubious programs from untrusted sources: abandonware, various apps that are free, or perhaps hacked programs. All of these kinds of software are risky, because it is very simple to integrate a Usounoul malware under the cover of part of the license hacking script, or as a part of the self-made algoritm inside of the Windows optimization tool.

Usounoul popup virus can additionally be hidden in the advertisement somewhere on the strange web page. Such sites are usually full of colorful and blinking advertisements, and their owners usually accept any type of promotions to be placed on their page. Thus, clicking on such banners is a risky thing: only the ad contractor knows what will occur when you press this advertisement. Besides some “light” viruses, like adware or unwanted programs, you may also receive something much more dangerous, like ransomware or coin miner; the substantial share of coin miners distribution is exactly after the malicious ads.

People dislike popups

The statistic shows that people dislike popup advertising more than other types of promotions

Potentially unwanted programs, like Usounoul popup virus can provoke a lot of different troubles on your personal computer. Distracting is not the single problem – pop-up notifications can show you the advertisements, where you are offered to download another dubious application, or “a effective anti-malware tool”. Scareware is often spread with the use of the last motto. Potentially unwanted applications, in turn, can have spyware functions. And it is quite hard to distinguish the undesirable app from a good one, if you don’t know the exact names. Besides the PUPs and dubious antiviruses, popup-related banners are also chosen as a distribution method by different trojan viruses, for instance – coin miners. The consequences of activity of such viruses is 100% unpleasant, and can cost you several hundreds of dollars. And even if you are not clicking these advertisements, they may be clicked by whoever who also uses your personal computer – parents, children, spouse, etc. So the situation may become much more serious, and it will be much harder to solve it without data loss. It is recommended to eliminate the viruses with antivirus programs as soon as possible.

How can I get rid of Usounoul pop-up advertisements?

The guide of Usounoul adware clearing consists of 2 parts. Initially, we need to deal with the malware, and after that correct the effects of its action. The removal process is quite simple, due to the fact that it can be done even with the use of Microsoft Defender – security software that is available on all computers with Windows 8/10. Nevertheless, as a result of its large resources consumption, as well as some bugs that can be critical for some groups of individuals, Defender is oftentimes disabled by the users, so its usage is likely impossible. In addition, different trojan viruses have the ability to turn off the embedded antivirus. It is far better to make use of the separated program that will not have such vulnerabilities.

I’d advise you to use Gridinsoft Anti-Malware2 – a well-proven antivirus device that will definitely remove the viruses from your PC and also create an impenetrable shield with a Proactive protection function. However, let’s handle Usounoul adware initially.

When the web browsers are reset, you need to ensure that your web browser will definitely connect the right DNS while connecting to the web page you want. Create a text file titled “hosts” on your pc’s desktop, after that open it and fill it with the following lines3:

# Copyright (c) 1993-2006 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a ‘#’ symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
# localhost name resolution is handle within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost

Find the hosts.txt file in C:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc directory. Rename this file to “hosts.old.txt” (to distinguish it from the new one), and then move the file you created on the desktop to this folder. Remove the hosts.old from this folder. Now you have your hosts file as good as new.
