What are Peiynu pop-ups?

Peiynu popups are a result of adware action. Adware is a sort of malware that presents you the pay-per-view of pay-per-click advertisements, which creates a major amount of income for adware suppliers. These promotions might include explicit content, or have a web link to malevolent content/website, because adware maintainers have no purpose to check the goodness of the web content they are going to reveal – their single target is money.

Pop-up marketing itself is an excellent, cheap and also very efficient advertising instrument1. It allows the seller to link the buyers’ interest to their website, as well as the customers to receive the dynamic updates on the goods they want to purchase. When the customer will get a pop-up alert that the TV set he wishes to buy is offered at the online shop he/she checked out previously with a 15% discount, one will undoubtedly use this chance and get it. Taking into consideration the extremely small cost for the popups and their targeting, such a marketing instrument is a favorite thing among the marketing departments of big online stores.

Nonetheless, such a successful strategy could not be missed by virus developers. Potential to show the popup advertisements forcibly to the victims of malware invasion is an excellent basis for malicious adjustments with the popup advertisements. And Peiynu.com ads is one of hundreds that are “employed” in this system.

How have I got the Peiynu virus?

There are a plenty of ways of getting contaminated by the adware that trigger the Peiynu popups storm. A lion’s part of this computer virus incidents is after the freeware or cracked programs, that are distributed on the peering networks. Freeware may also be downloaded from the official site, and the adware is provided as a legal bundled program.

There is no need to blame yourself. A number of people regularly utilize the unreliable programs from untrusted sources: abandonware, a wide range of tools that are free, or even hacked programs. Every one of these kinds of applications are unsafe, since it is very easy to integrate a Peiynu malware under the cover of part of the license hacking script, or as a component of the self-made algoritm inside of the Windows optimization tool.

Peiynu popup virus can additionally be concealed in the promotion somewhere on the unusual web page. Such web pages are generally full of bright and blinking ads, and their owners typically permit any kind of promotions to be posted on their web page. Hence, clicking such banners is a shot in the dark: only the ad provider realizes what will happen when you press this advertisement. Besides some “light” viruses, like adware or unwanted programs, you can also receive something a lot more damaging, like ransomware or coin miner; the large share of coin miners circulation is exactly after the malicious promotions.

People dislike popups

The statistic shows that people dislike popup advertising more than other types of promotions

Potentially undesirable applications, like Peiynu popup virus can initiate a variety of troubles on your computer. Distracting is not the only problem – pop-ups may display you the advertisements, where you are offered to get another unknown program, or “a effective security tool”. Scareware is often spread under the last motto. Potentially undesirable applications, in turn, may have spyware functionality. And it is quite hard to distinguish the unwanted app from a good one, if you don’t know the exact names. Besides the potentially unwanted programs and dubious antiviruses, popup-related banners are also used as a spreading method by various trojan viruses, for example – coin miners. The consequences of activity of such malware is 100% unwanted, and can cost you hundreds or even thousands of dollars. And even if you are not tapping these banners, they can be clicked by whoever who also uses your PC – parents, children, spouse, etc. So the situation can become much more serious, and it will be much harder to solve it without information loss. It is recommended to wipe out the viruses with anti-malware applications as soon as possible.

How can I get rid of Peiynu pop-up advertisements?

The guide of Peiynu adware elimination includes 2 parts. First, we need to deal with the malware, and after that deal with the consequences of its action. The removal process is pretty easy, because it may be done even with using Microsoft Defender – anti-malware program that is present on all computers with Windows 8/10. Nonetheless, due to its large resources utilization, as well as some errors that can be pivotal for some kinds of individuals, Defender is oftentimes turned off by the users, so its use is likely impossible. Additionally, various trojan viruses can shut off the embedded antivirus. It is much better to make use of the separated program that will not have such weakness.

I would certainly recommend you to use Gridinsoft Anti-Malware2 – a well-proven security device that will surely exterminate the viruses from your computer and also make an invulnerable cover with a Proactive protection feature. But let’s take care of Peiynu adware initially.

When the web browsers are reset, you need to make sure that your browser will connect the proper DNS while connecting to the website you want. Create a text file titled “hosts” on your desktop, then open it and fill it with the following text3:

# Copyright (c) 1993-2006 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a ‘#’ symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
# localhost name resolution is handle within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost

Find the hosts.txt file in C:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc directory. Rename this file to “hosts.old.txt” (to distinguish it from the new one), and then move the file you created on the desktop to this folder. Remove the hosts.old from this folder. Now you have your hosts file as good as new.

Nonetheless, there is one problem that makes things much more difficult to fix, particularly without the anti-malware software. Most of adware variants that are used to show you the Peiynu pop-up ads are adjusting the deep browser settings, disabling an access to the settings tab. So, if you attempt to change your browser settings after your PC was penetrated by pop-up-related malware, your browser will collapse soon. In certain cases, you will see no crash, but large lag spike after pushing the “settings” key. Browser will stop responding for ~ 30 secs, and after that it will be back to the typical, until you try to open settings once more.
