What are OuiSys pop-ups?

OuiSys popups are a consequence of adware action. Adware is a kind of malware that shows you the pay-per-view of pay-per-click advertisements, which produces a large volume of income for adware suppliers. These promotions might contain explicit composition, or have a link to malicious content/website, due to the fact that adware maintainers have no purpose to inspect the goodness of the material they are going to show – their solitary target is cash.

Pop-up marketing itself is a very good, low-cost and really productive marketing solution1. It makes it possible for the seller to link the buyers’ interest to their site, and the customers to get the dynamic updates on the goods they want to buy. When the person will get a pop-up notification that the TV set he desires to buy is provided at the online shop he/she saw previously with a 15% price cut, one will certainly use this possibility and purchase it. Considering the very small cost for the popups and their targeting, such an advertising instrument is a favorite thing amongst the advertising departments of huge online sellers.

Nevertheless, such a profitable system could not be missed by virus creators. Option to demonstrate the popup ads by force to the targets of malware invasion is an excellent basis for malicious tricks with the popup advertisements. And Ouisys.com promotions is just one of hundreds that are “employed” in this system.

How have I got the OuiSys virus?

There are a huge amount of ways of getting infected by the adware that lead to the OuiSys popups tornado. A lion’s part of this computer virus cases is after the freeware or cracked programs, that are distributed on the peering networks. Freeware can additionally be downloaded from the main website, and the adware is supplied as a legitimate bundled program.

There is no need to blame yourself. A huge amount of people often work with the uncertain programs from untrusted sources: abandonware, a wide range of tools that are free of cost, and even hacked programs. All of these types of software are dangerous, since it is very easy to build in a OuiSys malware under the cover of part of the license hacking script, or as a part of the self-made algoritm within the Windows optimization tool.

OuiSys popup malware may also be hidden in the advertisement somewhere on the odd site. Such websites are typically packed with bright and blinking advertisements, and their owners often accept any promotions to be published on their web page. Therefore, clicking on such banners is a risky thing: only the ad provider realizes what will occur when you click this advertisement. Besides some “light” viruses, like adware or unwanted programs, you can also get something much more dangerous, like ransomware or coin miner; the large share of coin miners circulation is exactly after the malicious ads.

People dislike popups

The statistic shows that people dislike popup advertising more than other types of promotions

Potentially undesirable programs, like OuiSys pop-up virus may initiate a lot of troubles on your personal computer. Distracting is not the single problem – pop-up notifications can show you the advertisements, where you are offered to get another strange application, or “a effective anti-malware tool”. Scareware is often distributed with the last motto. Potentially unwanted applications, in turn, may have spyware functions. And it is quite hard to distinguish the undesirable app from a normal one, if you don’t know the exact names. Besides the PUPs and fake antiviruses, popup-related banners are also chosen as a distribution way by different trojan viruses, for example – coin miners. The consequences of activity of such viruses is 100% unpleasant, and can cost you several hundreds of dollars. And even if you are not interacting with these banners, they can be clicked by someone who also uses your computer – parents, children, spouse, etc. So the things can become much more serious, and it will be much harder to deal with it without data loss. It is recommended to remove the viruses with anti-malware programs as soon as possible.

How can I get rid of OuiSys pop-up advertisements?

The manual of OuiSys adware clearing includes 2 sections. Initially, we need to remove the malware, and after that correct the consequences of its activity. The removal process is really easy, due to the fact that it can be performed even with using Microsoft Defender – security program that is available on all personal computers with Windows 8/10. Nevertheless, as a result of its huge resources consumption, along with some failures that can be critical for some groups of users, Defender is oftentimes turned off by the users, so its utilization is most likely impossible. Moreover, a variety of trojan viruses can disable the embedded antivirus. It is much better to make use of the separated program that will not have such vulnerabilities.

I would certainly recommend you to utilize Gridinsoft Anti-Malware2 – a well-proven anti-malware device that will certainly wipe out the viruses from your PC and also make an invulnerable shield with a Proactive protection function. However, let’s manage OuiSys adware initially.

When the browsers are reset, you need to ensure that your browser will definitely connect the proper DNS while connecting to the site you want. Create a text file named “hosts” on your computer’s desktop, then open it and fill it with the following text3:

# Copyright (c) 1993-2006 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a ‘#’ symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
# localhost name resolution is handle within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost

Find the hosts.txt file in C:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc directory. Rename this file to “hosts.old.txt” (to distinguish it from the new one), and then move the file you created on the desktop to this folder. Remove the hosts.old from this folder. Now you have your hosts file as good as new.

Nevertheless, there is one issue that makes the things much more difficult to fix, especially without the anti-malware software. Most of adware variations that are used to show you the OuiSys pop-up advertisements are modifying the deep browser settings, disabling an access to the settings tab. So, if you try to fix your browser settings after your system was penetrated by pop-up-related malware, your browser will crash quickly. In some cases, you will see no crash, but significant lag spike after pressing the “settings” key. Browser will stop reacting for ~ 30 seconds, and after that it will be back to the normal, until you try to open settings again.
