What are Bercumn pop-ups?

Bercumn popups are an outcome of adware presence. Adware is a sort of malware that presents you the pay-per-view of pay-per-click ads, which creates a large volume of profit for adware suppliers. These ads may include explicit composition, or have a web link to harmful content/website, considering that adware maintainers have no reason to inspect the goodness of the material they are going to reveal – their single target is cash.

Pop-up marketing itself is a good, affordable and also extremely efficient marketing method1. It permits the seller to link the buyers’ interest to their website, as well as the buyers to get the dynamic updates on the goods they intend to buy. When the consumer will receive a pop-up notification that the TV set he desires to purchase is available at the online shop he/she saw earlier with a 15% price cut, one will surely use this opportunity and buy it. Considering the extremely small cost for the popups and their targeting, such a promotion and marketing instrument is a much-loved thing among the marketing teams of big internet retail stores.

Nonetheless, such a successful scheme could not be missed by malware creators. Potential to demonstrate the popup ads forcibly to the victims of malware invasion is a great basis for malevolent adjustments with the popup promotions. And Bercumn.com ads is just one of hundreds that are “employed” in this scheme.

How have I got the Bercumn virus?

There are a plenty of ways of getting contaminated by the adware that result in the Bercumn popups storm. A lion’s part of this computer virus incidents is after the free software or cracked programs, that are distributed on the peering networks. Freeware may additionally be downloaded from the main web page, and the adware is delivered as a legal bundled program.

There is no need to blame yourself. A huge amount of users frequently work with the uncertain programs from untrusted providers: abandonware, different utilities that are free of cost, or even hacked programs. All of these kinds of applications are risky, because it is quite simple to include a Bercumn malware under the guise of part of the license hacking script, or as a part of the self-made algoritm inside of the Windows optimization tool.

Bercumn popup virus may also be concealed in the promotion somewhere on the odd web page. Such sites are usually full of bright and blinking advertisements, and their owners generally accept any promos to be posted on their page. For this reason, clicking on such banners is a risky thing: only the ad provider realizes what will occur when you click this ad. Besides some “light” viruses, like adware or unwanted programs, you can additionally receive something far more damaging, like ransomware or coin miner; the large share of coin miners distribution is exactly after the malicious advertisements.

People dislike popups

The statistic shows that people dislike popup advertising more than other types of promotions

Potentially undesirable programs, like Bercumn pop-up virus can cause a wide range of problems on your PC. Distracting is not the single problem – pop-ups may present you the promotions, where you are offered to download one more dubious program, or “a effective anti-malware tool”. Scareware is usually distributed with the use of the last motto. Potentially unwanted applications, in turn, can have spyware functions. And it is quite hard to distinguish the undesirable app from a good one, if you don’t know the exact names. Besides the PUPs and pseudo antiviruses, popup-related promotions are also chosen as a distribution way by different trojan viruses, for example – coin miners. The consequences of activity of such malware is 100% unpleasant, and can cost you hundreds of dollars. And even if you are not clicking these banners, they can be clicked by someone who also makes use of your personal computer – parents, children, spouse, etc. So the things may become much more serious, and it will be much harder to solve it without data and money loss. It is recommended to get rid of the viruses with anti-malware programs as soon as possible.

How can I get rid of Bercumn pop-up advertisements?

The manual of Bercumn adware removal consists of 2 parts. Initially, we need to deal with the malware, and afterwards fix the effects of its activity. The elimination process is very simple, since it may be performed even with the use of Microsoft Defender – anti-virus software that is available on all computers with Windows 8/10. However, because of its huge resources consumption, along with some problems that may be pivotal for some categories of users, Defender is often turned off by the users, so its usage is most likely impossible. What’s more, a variety of trojan viruses have the ability to switch off the embedded antivirus. It is far better to make use of the separated program that will not have such weakness.

I would certainly advise you to use Gridinsoft Anti-Malware2 – a well-proven anti-malware device that will surely eliminate the viruses from your system and also create an invulnerable cover with a Proactive protection feature. However, let’s deal with Bercumn adware initially.

When the browsers are reset, you need to ensure that your browser will definitely connect the proper DNS while connecting to the web page you need. Make a text file titled “hosts” on your pc’s desktop, then open it and fill it with the following lines3:

# Copyright (c) 1993-2006 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a ‘#’ symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
# localhost name resolution is handle within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
